Exhibition of the Geschichtsforum Schleiden: "Die mit dem Adel der Geburt den Adel der Gesinnung stets vereinigten" - “The ones who always combined the nobility by birth with the nobility of attitude”. The exhibition will document this: 1773 to 2023: 250 years of Arenberg in Schleiden, in the town hall. Opening on 11 April at 6.30 pm.

150 Years of the Sint-Amandsberg Beguinage

150 years ago, starting in 1873, a new beguinage was rapidly constructed in Sint-Amandsberg. The Saint Elizabeth Beguinage, near the Rabot, was increasingly absorbed and threatened by the growing city of Ghent, forcing the beguines to relocate. Their savior was Duke Engelbert of Arenberg. He purchased the land on the Sint-Baafskouter and commissioned the construction of the new beguinage.

Olympic torch relay

Home to more than 2.6 million people, Nord is the most populous department in France. From its beaches to its cultural and historic buildings and cuisine, Nord has a lot going for it. The Olympic torch will arrive to the department on Tuesday, 2 July, beginning this stage of the relay next to the fortifications of Avesnes-sur-Helpe, first built sometime in the 11th century.

News report TV Com: Le Petit Moulin d'Arenberg in Rebecq reopens to the public after 14 years of closure

The mill located at the Espace du Petit Moulin in Rebecq is finally reopening after 14 years of closure, following the floods of 2010 and 2011. This is an opportunity to discover or rediscover this historic site and to delve into the past of Rebecq. Although the mill no longer operates today, the original machinery is still in place.
