Coline Dutilleul | B'Rock - "Die Schätze der Familie Arenberg"

back to the overview

"Die Schätze der Familie Arenberg"

The House of Arenberg is one of the oldest dynasties in the region, with its ancestral seat in the Eifel, and it expanded its influence to the Netherlands and Belgium from the Middle Ages. They had a passion not only for politics but also for the arts. The family's private music collection dates back to the late 17th century, and famous composers and singers visited the Arenbergs in their homes in and around Brussels.

Belgian mezzo-soprano Coline Dutilleul portrays this remarkable family and their valuable sheet music collection. The program includes vocal and instrumental music by Vivaldi, Handel, Campra, and other contemporaries.

This production is made possible with the support of the Tax Shelter measure of the Belgian Federal Government through Flanders Tax Shelter.

Coline Dutilleul

Coline Dutilleul studied at the Royal Conservatories of Mons and Brussels and at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz in Cologne. Simultaneously, she consolidated her vocal technique with Catrin Wyn-Davies, Sara Mingardo, Monica Bacelli, Natalie Dessay, Barbara Hannigan, and Deborah Polaski through private lessons and masterclasses. She studied lied and melody interpretation with Bernarda Fink, Roger Braun, Julius Drake, Ulrich Eisenlohr, and Roger Vignoles.

From 2015 to 2017, she was a member of the Opera Studio of the Opéra national du Rhin. In 2020/21, she caught the attention of Barbara Hannigan, who invited her to participate in the project she led, Equilibrium Young Artists. In 2020, Coline Dutilleul recorded a Haydn program for Arte Concert with Aline Zylberajch on fortepiano, including the cantata Arianna a Naxos. Her first recital album, Licht in der Nacht, with pianist Kunal Lahiry, was released in 2022 on the Outhere/Fuga Libera label.

Highlights of the 2023/24 season include the role of Messaggera in Monteverdi's L'Orfeo on tour in Buenos Aires with Cappella Mediterranea, her debut at the Opéra de Nice (Rusalka), and Beethoven's 9th Symphony with the Orchestre national d'Auvergne. She also performs with ensembles such as B'Rock Orchestra and Les Muffatti.

B’Rock Orchestra

B’Rock Orchestra breathes and lives baroque. Our DNA intertwines gut feeling, passion, and connection; together forming the backbone of one of the most successful and innovative period ensembles of the moment.

With an open mind for the new and an eye and ear for fascinating encounters, we actively collaborate with like-minded artists – those who lead far ahead of the artistic pack. Where our genes and those of these musicians, theater makers, choreographers, or visual artists intersect, intriguing experiences grow for and with a broad audience.

This audience is experienced or curious, expert or novice, and everything in between. We take them on a journey through five centuries of music, on instruments appropriate to the period, in operas, oratorios, and instrumental works. A thrilling rendition of a baroque masterpiece or the world premiere of a contemporary work in a surprising context: we put heart and soul into both – and everything in between. Together with like-minded singers from our recently established B’Rock Vocal Consort, we dive into previously untouched repertoire with both feet.

B’Rock Orchestra makes itself heard worldwide but truly comes home in Flanders. We have our base camp in Ghent, are an Associated Artist of De Singel, and are regular guests at Opera Ballet Vlaanderen, KASK Conservatorium Ghent, and Muziektheater Transparant. Concertgebouw Brugge, Muziekcentrum De Bijloke Gent, and De Munt/La Monnaie also frequently welcome us. The international resonance of our projects is illustrated by regular appearances at the Concertgebouw and the Muziekgebouw Amsterdam, the Kölner Philharmonie, Amare in The Hague, Le Volcan in Le Havre, and the Musikfestspiele Potsdam and Musik+ in Innsbruck. We have also built a solid partnership with the Opéra de Rouen.
